As we continue to navigate through the interesting times of COVID-19 and physical therapists are emerging into telehealth in a big way, many clinicians struggle with not being able to put their hands on their patients. We have heard from many clinicians across the country about their challenges and as manual therapists ourselves have successfully made this transition and have been operating at a full schedule with great patient satisfaction. To help others with utilizing telehealth to encompass the depth and breadth of our skills as manual therapists, the 10 Doctors of Physical Therapy at Rezac PT have put together a 5 hour course covering 9 sections to instruct clinicians in teaching their patients self-mobilization techniques.
This course covers an introduction to telehealth, cervicothoracic, lumbopelvic, upper extremity, lower extremity, visuovestibular, special populations/COVID-19 and advanced practice. Techniques are creative and designed for patients to utilize common household objects for these mobilizations as well as how to assess the efficacy of interventions.
Self-Mobilization via Telehealth meets 5 hours of Category I continued competency for the State of Colorado for Physical Therapists. It is open to all clinicians who can direct self-mobilizations including PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs and DCs. Upon completion of the course you will receive a certificate for 5 hours of course education.
Physical therapists across the country have been working hard with the APTA, state legislators and insurance companies to allow us to practice via telehealth and to try to keep it as part of our practice beyond COVID-19. We see the benefit for those living in rural areas, people who need a specialist who isn’t near them, home assessments, early interventions, snow days, patients or their family members who are sick or simply the convenience of quick check ins and program progression without travel time or on a lunch break. This course will provide you with useful tools for your practice beyond COVID-19.
